Challenge

A leading PCB manufacturing company located in India with a turnover of Rs.1000 million and 250 employees wanted to upgrade its SAP R/3 from 4.0B to 4.6C. In addition, customer also wanted to implement critical functionality to standardize its process with its Parent company located in Europe.

Solution

bigtec was brought in to upgrade the SAP R/3 System from 4.0B to 4.6C. This also included the upgrade of Country India version (CIN) from 2.2A to 4.0A. In addition,

  • For standardization, critical functionality was added in some of the core modules.
  • New SIS structures were added to standardize reporting across the company.
  • EWT functionality was provided

Challenge

The Customer is an ISO 9001 & TS 16949 Company, Incorporated in 1973, located in Karnataka, India. They manufacture and market a wide range of nylon bias ply tyres and butyl tubes for two and three wheelers, passenger cars, jeep, light commercial vehicles and farm vehicles, for the domestic and overseas markets. They have around 1500 employees. The legacy system was designed to map the present business processes and scenarios in payroll. The payroll administration function was centralized.

  • Non-standard procedures in legacy systems.
  • Data redundancy and more paper work.
  • No statutory reports were being generated.
  • Absence of income tax calculation integrated with present system.
  • No single point of access for payroll function.

Enhancement
 

Challenge

A leading Pharmaceutical Company located in India was using SAP R/3 version 4.0B with all core modules FI/CO, SD, MM, PP and QM. It was observed that the Inventory level of Packing materials and Raw materials required for the Export orders of the Formulations division had gone up substantially. The Export Order Division was using the Made to Order (MTO) strategy of SAP. The bigtec team of Consultants was called in to provide a solution by which the Inventory of Packing material as well as the Raw materials could be controlled.

Solution

The bigtec team spent some time at the Client site and observed the reasons for this huge Inventory build up. Based on their observations, bigtec proposed some amendments to the MTO strategy that was in place. Some of the key changes included: Conversion of MRP generated Planned Order to Subcontracting Purchase Requisitions

  • Conversion of these Purchase Requisitions to Subcontracting Purchase Orders
  • Elimination of unnecessary Goods movements that existed in the earlier process
  • Better management of Inventory levels

Benefits

  • No additional PR's were generated and this helped reduction of excess Inventory
  • At the time of Goods Receipt from subcontractor, stock was automatically assigned to "Sales order stock"
  • Tracking of the materials became much simpler.

Challenge

A leading Pharmaceutical Company located in India was using SAP R/3 version 4.0B with all core modules FI/CO, SD, MM, PP and QM. Due to the large number of SAP users and non-availability of adequate SAP skills within the Company, the internal SAP Support team was unable to provide effective support to the Users. In addition, due to high costs and rapid turnover of SAP resources, the cost of maintaining an effective Support team was ever increasing and retention of the Support team was becoming increasingly difficult.

Solution

APO
 
Our experience in APO Supply Network Demand Planning and Demand Planning

bigtec implemented the APO SNDP and DP modules for a large multinational FMCG company. The company had over 7 manufacturing locations, 15 subcontractors, 43 depots and 2300 retailers.

The objective of the APO SNDP module was that the right material reached that the right retailer at the right time.

This was accomplished by rolling out the SNDP module in India to ensure effective distribution of the material across the country. The resulting match of supply and demand lead to reduced inventory levels and increased demand accuracy, in- stock positions, inventory turns, profitability and productivity.

Bigtec also implemented the forecasting module of the DP module. State of the art forecasting algorithms were first used to anticipate demand for products first at the region level and then aggregated to the country level. This reduced the requirement to use detailed scheduling in production planning.

 
BW - Implementation
 

Challenge

The client is a multinational giant in the field of consumer electronics having presence all around the world. Having implemented SAP R/3 couple of years back, they decided to move to SAP BW to address their Reporting needs. The challenge was to generate Critical Reports which help the Management in decision making and move Reporting out of SAP R/3 thereby reducing the System resources to improve performance.

Solution

bigtec with its established and experienced team in SAP's R/3 & BW executed the Implementation in an onsite / offshore model . The entire Project was completed in a lean time frame of 4 months. The major highlights were as follows:-

Off-Shore Development
 

Challenge

The project was SAP implementation of the “Plant Maintenance” module at the Aircrafts maintenance facility of the client. This was carried out in an On-Site/ Off Shore model.

The main activities in this phase were -

· Adding new business scenarios and fine-tuning of existing business cases for the Plant Maintenance related activities.

· Developing SAP Programs and writing ABAP “Developments” for the newly created business scenarios and customizations.

· Enhancing MIS reporting capabilities of standard SAP by providing more reporting options, thereby increasing the capabilities and comfort level of end users.

· Understand business requirements by translating the Functional and Technical specifications onto English from Spanish. This was done On-Site.

BW Migration Project
 

BW Migration Project

The Client: The Client is the Worlds Largest Oil Producer with its HQ in Al-Khobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The flag ship business lines are Oil/Gas/Refining/Terminal with several other horizontal service businesses. The Client also has the largest number of SAP Users in the World.

Project Objectives: The Objective was to extract 20 yrs of Historical Training Data originating from Mainframes and moved temporarily to Oracle Database, onto the BW System for Historical Reporting. These Reports were then integrated with current data coming out of SAP for a Past vs. Current Comparison.

Team: bigtec with its experienced and Certified BW Team took up the assignment of migrating the data from Oracle to BW. The entire Project was executed On-Site in a lean time frame of  4 months.    

Challenges Faced

  • During the Blueprinting Phase our Team found that the data in Oracle had lot of Junk, Invalids and Inconsistencies. Our biggest Challenge was to convert these Inconsistencies into a format compatible with the BW System. For this we decided to make all the data conversions on the Oracle side itself. This helped us to keep the Oracle to BW Extraction clean.
  • This was our first Project for extracting data from non-SAP Systems. In this Project we made use of DB Connect which is used to extract data
  • Reporting was done using Crystal Enterprise a third Part Tool which was a first for the Team.
